Perseverance in a Passionate Goal
Since 1950
This is the motto we have followed at Bodegas Regajo since the 1950s: working the land and the vines, harvesting the fruit to ensure its optimal ripeness for your wines, guided by the excitement that each harvest brings, renewing our learning and strengthening tradition through hard work.
Our History
1950
The Germ
Manuel Regajo, guided by the ideas of his son José Regajo, began planting vines at the Viña del Mellizo, the town's baker. Inspired by the opportunity, he used donkeys to transport the grapes from Las Cabezas to Calle Compás in Fregenal de la Sierra, where the winery had originally been located with the first clay jars.
1950-1960
The entrepreneurial spirit
José Regajo took advantage of the growth of good consecutive harvests in the late 1950s and 1960s to encourage his father to purchase more clay cones, leading to the expansion of the winery, now on Nueva Santa Ana Street, and building the foundation for what are today the pressing and fermentation facilities.
1982
From the first vintages resulting from the treading to the traditional press
The founder maintained the business by selling bulk wine, Pitarra, especially in 16-liter glass bottles, the origin of what became the tavern in 1982, while also maintaining the care of the land with his brother-in-law Ignacio and other family members.
199-
The baker's field gives way to new fortunes
With the arrival of the third generation, led by Kika and Ana María in particular, along with José Regajo, new vineyards are being acquired to supply the winery with a variety of wines, supported by the advice of winemaker Aniceto Mesías and the support of Emilio.
Today
The arrival of varieties
The third generation recognizes and honors what was created since the 1950s and has planted more grape varieties on the new land, always with the intention of learning more each day, with the support of the fourth generation, adding new machinery and techniques for production and expanding sales from the Nueva Santa Ana store to other locations.
